On March 27th I am climbing Mount Everest!
…well , part of Mount Everest at least 🙂
Together with 20 members of the Toilet Hackers Team I will be trekking to Everest Base Camp (18,000 feet) in support of fellow sanitation conquistadors Steve Obbayi and Toby Storie- Pugh who will be climbing to the Summit to plant the Toilet Hackers flag! We are embarking on this awesome expedition to raise money and awareness of the global sanitation crisis.
2.5 billion people don’t have access to proper sanitation. Of those 2.5 billion people, one child dies every 17 seconds because of poor sanitation, bad hygiene and unsafe water. One in 3 girls in sub-saharan African will drop out of school when she begins menstruation if her school does not have a toilet. Access to improved sanitation and hygiene can save lives, create jobs and transform communities.
As Toilet Hackers , we dream of a world where everyone has a toilet or access to improved sanitation.
If you change nothing, nothing will change.
While the Toilet Hackers goal, “toilets for all,” is epic in size, the solutions are simple. Hand washing, education and toilets have the power to change the world. This is an epic challenge that we know how to solve and it can be done in our lifetime.
we need your support. donate here!
How do donations make a difference?
$12.50 = one hygiene scholarship for one student
$50 = one ventilated pit latrine for a family of seven
$1,000 = one public toilet for a school or community and hygiene training, impacting approximately 80 students or community residents
$5,000 = salary for one hygiene entrepreneur, providing access to sanitation, education and training to an entire village
$10,000 = 10 public latrines and hygiene training for 800 children (an entire school!)
Thank you in advance for opening your heart and helping to improve the life of another. Your generosity will not go unnoticed by the universe 🙂
