[ MASCULINE energy, FEMININE energy, and GENDER as energy. ] *part 1*
You hear the terms ” masculine energy ” or “feminine energy” … as well as the “divine feminine”. I’m not a fan of using any of these phrases as neither spirit nor energy has a gender. I prefer to use the more traditional terms “yin” and “yang” to define these opposing forces that work harmoniously to achieve a balanced existance in all life forms.
Yin energy ( the “feminine”) is the energy of release, acceptance, letting go, sensitivity, creativity, yielding to the divine/intuition, nurturing, and the gentle cultivation of other energies using these principles. It has a soft fuzzy feeling to it when felt energetically.
Yang energy (the “masculine”) is the energy of go go go. Fearless, protective, logical, assertive, a heavy handed alpha approach to shaping the path ahead. It is more rigid/ solid when felt energetically, sometimes firey feeling.
Ideally each of us is in balance of either of these two energies. An overabundance of yang might manifest as a domineering person, who fails to see the big picture and misses the gifts that the universe bestows, as they are too busy trying to make things happen through their mind. They might try to control the ones they love, thinking that if they dont they will lose them. An overabundance of yin might manifest as someone who does not have the conviction in their heart to go for what they feel, choosing to let the cards fall as they may . They might let themselves be controlled by their partner, feeling that if they do not yield to their wishes, they will hurt them or lose them.
Both hyper-yang and hyper-yin states result in a loss of self and disconnection from higher purpose. The connection to the divine becomes obscured, intuition is not followed, and the path becomes lost. There are a multitude of reasons WHY someone might get to either of these states, most of them rooted in childhood trauma, an imbalance in either parent, or a complete lack of one of the energies (again from parents) during development.
We are drawn to soulmates who embody the complementary or opposite balance of yin/yang that we possess. Things get a funky when the person with male genitalia has an abundance of yin .. and the person with female genitalia has the abundance of yang. When this pairing happens, its absolutely crucial to toss energetic gender assignment aside completely , for if the female is hung up on being the masculine energied one, and vise versa… problems arise as one or both sides try to deny their own energetic makeup, which may never ever “switch” as they hope.
Whats important to remember is that we are not defined by our physical parts. Love and attraction are spiritual and energetic forces. There are not two genders, as there are infinite ratios of yin and yang energies , and labeling what they all are is irrelevant.
Be what you are. Throw all notions of what you “should be” out. Accept who you attract to help you evolve.
Self acceptance is paramount in this situation as is the desire to shine light on the darkest parts of the soul over and over and over again in an effort to heal. Evolution and higher consciousness comes when you throw all definitions, preconceptions and ideals of masculine, feminine, man, woman, and gender out the window completely .
I’m one of these females who has supercharged “masculine” energy and was running from it, trying to fix it, and not feeling great about it for a very long time. I always pulled in “feminine” energied men, which were not the sort i found “ideal”. When I rephrased my energy type as yang and began to work to dig deep into my past to heal the events blocking the cultivation of yin, my energy became more balanced. I began to attract partners who were more balanced themselves. I am well aware that I may never ever ever be yin-dominant and may always have more yang than my partner and thats cool too.
In part II, I’ll expand upon how these energies relate to our accepted definitions of gender.
Part III, diving into and dissecting that term that every new agey fluffernutter loves throwing around : “the divine feminine”.
